Stroke Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy

Mobile stroke rehabilitation across Perth’s northern suburbs

North Therapy Solutions provides mobile Occupational Therapy for adults recovering from stroke, with therapy delivered in the home and community.

My approach focuses on helping people improve function, independence and confidence with the activities that matter most to them.

As a sole trader, I provide all assessment, therapy and follow-up personally, so you work with the same Occupational Therapist throughout your rehabilitation.

How Occupational Therapy Can Help After Stroke

Stroke can affect movement, sensation, cognition, vision and the ability to manage everyday activities.

Occupational Therapy looks at how these changes affect daily life and develops practical strategies and rehabilitation goals around the individual.

Therapy may focus on:

  • Arm and hand function

  • Strength, movement and coordination

  • Sensory retraining

  • Cognitive rehabilitation

  • Visual and perceptual changes

  • Dressing, showering and personal care

  • Meal preparation and household tasks

  • Community access

  • Returning to meaningful activities

  • Assistive technology and equipment

  • Home modifications

  • Carer and family education

Upper Limb Rehabilitation

Changes in arm and hand function are common after stroke.

Therapy may include specific evidence based exercises/ techniques and functional activities to improve movement, strength, coordination, sensory awareness and use of the affected upper limb in everyday tasks.

Where appropriate, therapy is incorporated into meaningful activities so that rehabilitation is relevant to daily life rather than focused only on isolated exercises.

Cognitive and Perceptual Rehabilitation

Stroke can affect attention, memory, planning, problem solving, visual processing and the way a person interprets information from their environment.

Occupational Therapy can assess how cognitive and perceptual changes are affecting everyday activities and provide practical strategies to improve safety and independence.

Support may include:

  • Attention and memory strategies

  • Planning and organisation

  • Visual scanning

  • Spatial awareness

  • Perceptual retraining

  • Strategies for completing everyday tasks more safely and independently

Functional Rehabilitation at Home

Receiving therapy at home allows rehabilitation to be directly linked to everyday activities.

This may include practising tasks such as dressing, preparing meals, managing household activities, using the bathroom safely or improving access around the home.

It also allows equipment and home modification recommendations to be assessed in the environment where they will actually be used.

NDIS Stroke Occupational Therapy

North Therapy Solutions provides stroke rehabilitation for NDIS participants with goals related to independence, function and participation.

Services may include:

  • Ongoing Occupational Therapy

  • Functional assessments

  • Upper limb and sensory rehabilitation

  • Cognitive rehabilitation

  • Perceptual rehabilitation
  • Assistive technology assessment

  • Home modification assessment

  • Capacity-building strategies

  • Recommendations for supports and equipment

I can work collaboratively with participants, families, support coordinators and other members of the therapy team.
